Independent living doesn’t mean doing it all on your own. It means having the right support around you enough to build confidence, manage the everyday stuff, and actually work toward the things that matter to you. That’s what SIL looks like at Our Place Your Home.
We keep it personal. Not a template, not a program everyone gets slotted into.
SIL is support with everyday life, the routines, the decisions, the practical bits that go into living more independently. It’s built around what a person actually needs, not a generic checklist.
For some people that means help managing daily routines. For others it’s about building confidence with tasks they’ve been unsure about, or simply having more say over how their day runs. There’s no single version of SIL. It looks different depending on who it’s for.
In practice, this might mean support with daily routines, working on confidence, developing life skills over time, or being able to make more of your own decisions day to day. It’s usually less dramatic than people expect small, consistent support that builds toward bigger things.
SIL support is shaped around the individual, so the practical arrangements depend on each participant’s needs, goals and circumstances. We’ll talk through what support could look like for you and make sure the approach feels right
Independence doesn’t look the same for everyone, and we don’t think it should. One person might be focused on getting daily routines running smoothly. Someone else might be working on building confidence with a task they’ve found difficult. Someone else again might just want more say in the small decisions of what to eat, how to spend an afternoon, that kind of thing.
Whatever it looks like for you, we work at your pace. Not ours.
A lot of independence comes down to ordinary things, done consistently. Cooking or helping prepare a meal. Keeping on top of a routine. Getting organised. Communicating what you need. Making choices, even small ones.
None of this happens overnight, and we’re not going to promise specific results. But these are the kinds of everyday experiences that tend to build real confidence over time.
Your support should be about what matters to you, not what’s easiest for us to deliver. That means having a genuine say in your own support, and support that actually connects to your goals, whatever those happen to be.
We’re here to help you get there. Not to decide what “there” looks like for you.
Support that feels like home, not a service being delivered at you. Personalised, not generic. A comfortable, welcoming environment. A team that genuinely cares, not just clocks in. Room to build independence and confidence at your own pace. Real opportunities for connection and a bit of fun along the way. Peace of mind for families, knowing support is genuine. Registered NDIS provider.
SIL may suit participants who want support with everyday living while working toward greater independence, however that looks for them . If you’re not sure whether it’s the right fit, that’s a completely normal place to start. Just ask us.
